A little bit of Merci

The idea

Personal need

Thinking today of people who said or did something for me in the past, takes a new dimension. I’m able to see the impact it really had, and how if it wouldn’t have been for that moment, now things could be totally different. I started to have the need to look back and say Merci to those people, even if I had lost the contact.
But what if instead of just thinking of it I would take action and do it. It’s always a good time to thank someone and let them know how grateful you are. Don't you think?

If I was feeling this way and I could think of so many people I could thank, I was probably not the only one.  We all have someone to say thank you. Who is yours? What’s your story? Truth is everyone can be thank. And here I came up with my mission: To deliver a thank you message to every human being.

Bring meaning

Most of us say thank you on a daily basis, but as it usually happens with common words, they lose their meaning after being over-used. I wanted to create a space where we could deliver thank you messages with all its letters and meaning. Merci The Podcast is the new room where we have the time to stop and thank someone while being fully aware of its concept. Even the receiver will feel all its meaning since the message is unique and clear.

Feeling human kindness

Did you know that being grateful and appreciative fuels our body with serotonin? Serotonin is the key hormone that stabilizes our mood, feelings of well-being, and happiness. This hormone impacts your entire body. In a society where we are filled with stress, work, responsibilities, where we run everywhere, and receive plenty of impressions everyday it is good to stop and be kind to one another. It's good to dedicate some time to ourselves, to our body, and to each other. Saying thank you can be a beautiful gift and being part of Merci The Podcast will give you a dose of positivity.

Why a Podcast?

Back to a microphone

I started thinking how I could make this mission possible. And the format came easily. Today I’m a product design and brand strategist with a media communication master degree. My early days are in television and radio. In an era where technology offers us great opportunities, I saw the moment to put myself again in front of the microphone. I needed a platform where we could all verbally say thank you and together build a community of Merci. A podcast was the best media to use in order to achieve my mission.

Merci, the name

Merci means Thank you in french. (Voilà!) But, that is not the mean reason. I'm originally from Catalunya where we speak Catalan. And even though we use Gràcies to say thank you, most of the times we actually say Merci. So therefore, Merci is a tribute to my mother tongue, the Catalan.

A little bit about your host

I say Merci, and this is my story
Pau Roma Host Merci The Podcast

I’m Pau, your host from Merci The podcast. I believe in human kindness and I believe sometimes it’s difficult to believe in it. If you are like me, welcome to the community of Merci.

When you listen to the show you will notice I do have an accent. I’m originally from Barcelona, I grew up in a town called Girona (an hour north from Barcelona), and I lived in San Francisco for 11 years. Now, I’m back in Europe broadcasting from the city of France, Rennes. (Don't be surprise if every once in a while you hear me saying oh la la)

I’m a communicator who has worked on TV (TV3) and Radio (RAC 1) as a host, editor, and scriptwriter. In San Francisco I developed my design career in the middle of Silicon Valley, and today I’m the Design Director and Brand Strategist of GIS Planning, a service from the Financial Times.

Media, technology, and branding are my passion and I’m really thankful I can connect these three universes into this one of a kind project: A podcast with a mission.

I enjoy connecting with people and discovering new stories. It's like traveling: the more I do it, the more I want to keep doing it. Thank you everyone who helped me shape who I am today and making this story possible.
